Real backing: in-house psychology, an experienced Responsible Individual, and a genuinely quality-led organisation.
Registered Manager, children’s home, Croydon
Accountable for a home, its Ofsted compliance and its culture. The most important appointment we make.
About the role
The registered manager is the most important appointment we make. You are accountable to Ofsted for a home: its care, its compliance, its team and its culture. You set the tone that the children live inside every day. This is a small home, run well. You will have an in-house psychologist, an experienced Operations Director and Responsible Individual, and a quality-led organisation behind you, so you can lead on care rather than firefight alone. We are growing carefully, so there is room to shape something and to grow with it.
About the home, and Oasis
Oasis Manor Care runs a small, growing group of Ofsted-registered children's homes in Croydon, South London. Every home is long-term, and PACE is woven through everyday life (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy), with an in-house psychologist supporting every child and every member of staff. We are a quality-led group, growing carefully, so there is real room to grow with us.
What you will do
- Take registered accountability for the home under the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Lead, recruit, supervise and develop the staff team.
- Own the quality of care: care planning, safeguarding, behaviour support and outcomes for each child.
- Drive Ofsted compliance and prepare the home for inspection.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, IROs, schools, health partners and families.
- Live PACE and the home’s culture day to day, so it shapes everyday life.
What we look for
- Experience as a registered or deputy manager in a children’s residential home, ready to hold or already holding Ofsted registration.
- Thorough knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards and safeguarding.
- A track record of leading teams and improving quality of care.
- The judgement, integrity and resilience the role demands, and the warmth to keep the child at the centre of it.
Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, held or willing to complete within the statutory timeframe (to be confirmed).
- Eligibility to register with Ofsted as a Registered Manager, including passing the fit-person interview.
- Significant experience in children’s residential care, including management (minimum to be confirmed).
- The right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check, and a full UK driving licence (to be confirmed).
Backed to do the work well
A small home you can run well, not a large one you can only manage.
Growth: shape your home, and grow with a group opening new homes each year.
A clear, fair package. We are upfront about salary, pension, holiday and sleep-in payments from the first conversation.
