Every member of staff joins a clear pathway from residential support worker through to responsible individual, with funded qualifications and structured development at every level. This page shows the path, the pay band, and what we invest in you at each step.

The pathway

One pathway, six levels.

From residential support worker to responsible individual. At Level 4 an ancillary pathway also opens into organisation-wide specialist leadership in Quality, Training and Practice.

Level 1

Residential Support Worker

£30,000 to £34,000 plus sleep-in payments
What's required
  • No prior experience essential, we recruit on our MANORS values.
  • Enhanced DBS and full safer-recruitment checks.
  • A commitment to complete the Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma.
What OMC funds
  • We enrol and fund your Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
Level 2

Senior Residential Support Worker

£35,000 to £39,000 plus sleep-in payments
What's required
  • Typically 12 to 18 months' residential childcare experience.
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma completed or near completion.
  • Demonstrated shift-leadership capability.
What OMC funds
  • On completion of the Level 3 or 4, we enrol and fund your Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Level 3

Deputy Manager

£40,000 to £45,000
What's required
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma.
  • Proven senior or shift-leadership experience.
  • Competent across recording, audit and safeguarding duties.
What OMC funds
  • Level 5 Diploma.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) course.
  • Train the Trainer (PRICE).
  • ACAS workplace-investigation training.
Level 4

Registered Manager

£55,000 to £65,000 plus bonus
What's required
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or enrolled within regulatory timescales).
  • Two years' experience relevant to the residential care of children.
  • One year's management experience in social care.
  • Ofsted fit-person interview and registration.
What OMC funds
  • Level 5 Diploma if not already qualified.
  • DDP Level 1.
  • Level 4 named safeguarding training.
  • IOSH qualification.
Ancillary pathway · branches from Level 4
Level 4 specialist

Quality Lead, Training Lead or Practice Lead

Aligned to the Level 4 band

Organisation-wide specialist leadership in Quality, Training or Practice, a sideways move from the registered manager role rather than a step up.

What's required
  • At least 12 months as a Registered Manager.
  • At least one Ofsted inspection graded Good or above.
  • Two years with OMC in a frontline role.
What OMC funds
  • Role-specific specialist development agreed with the Responsible Individual, building on the Level 4 development offer.
Level 5

Senior Registered Manager

£70,000 plus bonus

Holds dual or multi-building registration.

What's required
  • A strong track record as a Registered Manager with inspection outcomes Good or above.
  • Capacity to hold dual or multi-building registration.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
What OMC funds
  • Level 7 in Leadership and Management.
Level 6

Responsible Individual

£75,000
What's required
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in children's residential care.
  • A proven governance, safeguarding and regulatory track record.
  • Fit-person requirements met.
What OMC funds
  • DDP Level 2.
  • Level 3 Training Qualification.

All salaries are reviewed annually, so the band you join on does not stand still while you grow.
