Frequently asked questions
Answers for two audiences: local authorities looking for a home for a child, and people thinking of working with us.
Referrals, compliance and the practical detail.
What types of placement do you offer?
Long-term, planned placements in small homes (solo and two-bed) in Croydon, for children aged 6 to 17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Some homes consider dual diagnosis such as autism or ADHD alongside EBD. Alongside planned long-term placements, we also consider medium-term, emergency and DoLS placements where the home is right for the child.
How quickly do you respond to a referral?
You can call us any time on 020 7362 1710, the line is answered 24 hours a day, or use the contact form. We aim to give you an honest answer quickly, including when we are not the right home.
What are your fees?
Fees are tailored to the child's needs and level of support. We provide a clear figure during the referral conversation.
Are your homes registered and inspected by Ofsted?
Yes. Our homes are registered with Ofsted and regulated under the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015. Rosedene House was rated Good in all areas at its first graded inspection in April 2026, and you can read our inspection reports on reports.ofsted.gov.uk. See our Ofsted registration page for every home's current status.
Who is responsible for each home?
Each home has a registered manager accountable to Ofsted, with Craig Rook, our Responsible Individual, accountable at provider level. We name them: see Meet the team.
What health partnerships do you have?
We have an in-house psychologist who sees the children and supports the staff team in every home. Tell us what the child needs and we will talk through the arrangements around them.
Experience, qualifications, hours and support.
Do I need experience to work in a children's home?
Not for our support worker roles. Many of our best people came from outside the sector. You will be trained and supported, including toward the Level 3 Diploma for the Residential Childcare workforce.
What qualifications will I need?
Support workers complete the Level 3 Diploma in post. Senior and management roles need relevant qualifications and experience; the Registered Manager role needs the Level 5 Diploma and Ofsted registration. See each role on Working at Oasis vacancies.
What are the hours?
Care roles are shift-based, including days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins on a rota.
What support will I get?
An in-house psychologist, reflective practice, supervision, training, and a team around you. You will never carry a hard day alone.
What checks do you carry out?
We follow safer recruitment: an enhanced DBS check, full references, and right-to-work checks. Every offer is conditional on these.
Is there room to progress?
Yes. We promote from within first, and we open new homes as we grow, so support workers can grow toward senior, deputy and registered manager roles.
Still have a question?
Whether you are looking for the right home for a child, or thinking about working with us, ask us directly and we will give you an honest answer.
